I don't know Spanish.

But I love this song:

"Me Voy" by Julieta Venegas, English translation of lyrics
"I Leave"
Album: Limón y Sal (Lemon and Salt)
Style: Indie, strong vocals
Country: Mexico, USA (Texas)

Porque no supiste entender a mi corazón,
Lo que había en él.
Porque no tuviste el valor
De ver quién soy.

Because you did not know how to understand my heart,
What was there in it.
Because you didn't have the courage
To see who I am.

Porque no escuchas
Lo que está tan cerca de ti,
Sólo el ruido de afuera
Y yo, que estoy a un lado
Desaparezco para ti.

Because you don't listen
To what is so close to you,
Just the noise from outside
And I, who am right beside [*lit. on the side]
Disappear for you.

No voy a llorar y decir
Que no merezco esto porque
Es probable que lo merezco
Pero no lo quiero, por eso...

I am not going to cry and say
That I do not deserve this because
It's probable that I do deserve it
But I do not want it, that's why...

Chorus:
--------------------------------
Me voy, qué lástima pero adiós
Me despido de ti y
Me voy, qué lástima pero adiós
Me despido de ti.

I leave, what a shame but goodbye
I bid my farewell and
I leave, what a shame but goodbye
I bid my farewell to you.
--------------------------------

Porque sé que me espera algo mejor
Alguien que sepa darme amor,
De ese que endulza la sal
Y hace que salga el sol.

Because I know that something better waits for me
Someone who knows how to give me love,
The kind that sweetens salt
And makes the sun come out.

Yo que pensé, nunca me iría de ti,
Que es amor del bueno, de toda la vida
Pero hoy entendí que no es
Suficiente para los dos.

Me who thought, I would never leave you,
That it was real love, lifelong love
But today I understood that it isn't
Enough for the two of us.

No voy a llorar y decir
Que no merezco esto porque
Es probable que lo merezco
Pero no lo quiero, por eso...

I am not going to cry and say
That I do not deserve this because
It's probable that I do deserve it
But I do not want it, that's why...

[Chorus x3, "Me voy..." (I leave...)]

Some questions of philosophical nature.

At one point, one starts to ask oneself some questions about life, like:

Why doesn't things remain clean?
Why  has one to clean them over and over?

Why does a buttered slice of bread always fall on the buttered side?
I know it's Murphy's law, but why? That guy must be mean,
or he must be a baker!

If some people are beautiful, rich and intelligent,
why am I only intelligent ?........(may be)

Why husbands complain about wives,
and wives complain about husbands,
but they never agree?

Why is the yummiest food, the less healthy?
Another mean law.

Why is there Halloween?

Why, when you are in love, do you want to stay with your partner forever,
and after you marry, do you want to divorce?

Why aren't the cutest songs family friendly?
I'll post about this later.

Why, when I'm at a bus stop, does other people's smoke, always come my way?

Why can't I stop with this list?

Thanks for bearing with me.

More unbelievable stuff from my kid.

We were on the bus, and I saw the beautiful mountains far away,
I told my 4 y o boy: look! the mountains covered in snow!
The kid: they're not mountains!
Me: What! How they're not mountains?
The kid: they're faking!

P.s.: thanks to him, my never ending  blogging source ;)

When someone wants to come and see you.

May be doesn't know that you woke up at 6
and before 8 you already 'run the marathon' to bring your child at preschool.
When someone wants to come and see you
may be doesn't know that you came at home after work
and your house is a mess.
When someone wants to come and see you
may be doesn't care that your house is a mess
but still you care.
When someone wants to come and see you
may be doesn't know that you are so tired and want to rest
before doing laundry and tiding a bit
and helping with math, and preparing dinner.
May be doesn't know that after dinner you didn't do dishes
and they are still in the sink.
When someone wants to come and see you
probably expects some homemade cake.
When someone wants to come and see you
may be doesn't know that it would be better to invite you out
but probably you wouldn't want to go out either
because going out with small kids is not the best thing ever.
May be doesn't know that the only 'alone' time you have
is your blogging time.
May be doesn't know that being a mother sometimes sucks
because that someone ain't a mother.
( I think it's PMS coming, don't mind )

Change the world.

This is one of my favorites of all the times, and it's also the theme of one of my favorites movies too, Phenomenon, with John Travolta, have you ever seen it?
Oh, how I loved that movie!
Anyhow great music.
Enjoy!

A very kind ATM.

Today I went to my local ATM to take some money, and guess what, the machine wished me an happy birthday, cool, it's the first time that this happens to me.
Is it the same with your ATM?
Actually I'm not one who loves to celebrate birthdays, I don't really get the meaning of it, like, yes today I'm one year older than yesterday...however it's nice when someone remembers it, ATM included.
And just because I don't like to celebrate I want to post my favorite song of my favorite Italian singer... in Italian, but I'm so generous to provide you with text and translation.
Enjoy!
P.s. she has a great voice, don't you think?

Giorgia Gocce di Memoria
Caricato da Dag-lagrima. - Video musicali, interviste agli artisti, concerti e altro ancora

Gocce di memoria

Sono gocce di memoria
queste lacrime nuove
siamo anime in una storia
incancellabile
Le infinite volte che
mi verrai a cercare
nelle mie stanze vuote
inestimabile
inafferrabile
la tua assenza che mi appartiene
Siamo indivisibli
siamo uguali e fragili
e siamo già così¬ lontani (lontani)
Ah, ah
Con il gelo nella mente
sto correndo verso te
siamo nella stessa sorte
che tagliente ci cambierà
aspettiamo solo un segno
un destino, un'eternità
e dimmi come posso fare
per raggiungerti adesso
per raggiungerti adesso
per raggiungere te
Uh, ah, ah
Uh
Siamo gocce di un passato
che non può più tornare
questo tempo ci ha tradito
  E' inafferrabile
Racconterà di te
inventerà per te
quello che non abbiamo
Le promesse sono infrante
come pioggia su di noi
le parole sono stanche
so che tu mi ascolterai (mi ascolterai)
aspettiamo un'altro viaggio
un destino, una verità
e dimmi come posso fare
per raggiungerti adesso
per raggiungerti adesso, mmm
per raggiungere te, yeah

Gocce di memoria

THEY ARE DROPS OF MEMORY
THIS NEW TEARS
WE ARE SOULS IN A STORY
THAT CANNOT BE ERASED
THE INFINITE TIMES THAT
YOU CAME TO LOOK FOR ME
IN MY EMPTY ROOMS
PRICELESS
ELUSIVE
YOUR ABSENCE THAT BELONGS TO ME
WE ARE INDIVISIBLE
WE ARE THE SAME AND FRAGILE
AND WE ARE NOW SO DISTANT
WITH A CHILL IN THE MIND
I'M RUNNING TO YOU
WE ARE IN THE SAME FATE
THAT CUTTING WILL CHANGE US
WE'RE ONLY WAITING FOR ONE SIGN
A DESTINY, AN ETERNITY
AND TELL ME WHAT CAN I DO
TO REACH YOU NOW
TO REACH YOU NOW
TO REACH YOU
Uh, ah, ah
WE ARE DROPS OF THE PAST
THAT CANNOT COME BACK ANYMORE
THIS TIME BETRAYED US
IT IS ELUSIVE
IT WILL TELL ABOUT YOU
IT WILL INVENT FOR YOU
WHAT WE DON'T HAVE
THE PROMISES ARE SMASHED
LIKE THE RAIN OVER US
THE WORDS ARE TIRED
I KNOW THAT YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME
WE WAIT FOR ANOTHER JOURNEY
 A DESTINY, A TRUTH
AND TELL ME WHAT CAN I DO
TO REACH YOU NOW
TO REACH YOU NOW
TO REACH YOU..

Chocolate chip cookies.

My first attempt at making chocolate chip cookies turned out great.
I found this recipe and sounded easy enough, plus I had this half dark chocolate tablet to use.
I reduced sugar a bit and they came out the perfect sweetness to me ( I don't like sweets too sweet ).

I used 2 sticks of real butter ( circa 220 grams, I know it's much ;)
one cup of dark brown sugar
one egg
1 tsp vanilla ( I used vanilla baking powder )
2 cups of self raising flour, or flour plus baking powder
half dark chocolate tablet, cut in small pieces, or 1/2 packet chocolate chips

I put in the food processor softened butter and sugar, creamed them together.
Added the egg, pulsed a bit.
Added some of the flour/baking powder and pulsed
Added the chocolate pieces and pulsed some more.
Added all the flour and mixed well together.
With a teaspoon I scooped a nut of dough, and made a small ball rolling it between my hands...and so on....
I put the balls well distant in a cookie sheet and put in the oven at 350°F (180 C°) for 15/20 min, but it depends on the oven.
When they were done I let them cool on a cooling rack.
Probably they should have flatten more, ( may be because I put the dough in the freezer for a while, since I was cooking something else in the oven ) but I assure you they are uber scrumptious, crispy on the outside, tender inside...mmmmm!

Liar, liar, pants on fire.

Well, I wasn't actually lying last week, when I said I would have posted Katy Perry.
I did check her songs, yeah they are funny, but not something that gives me emotions.
This week I reach a compromise, I mean the song is quite old, but the singer is young, by name, and as a matter of fact.
I love his voice and the arrangement.
Enjoy!

A nice read.

So, my daughter bought me this book and I have to say that she's had quite a good intuition.
I was sick in bed, and reading seemed the most appropriate activity, it was something like 600 pages ( Italian edition ), and I read it in less than 24 hours, hence obviously it wasn't boring.
It's not a life changing book, at least not for me, but it was entertaining and full of suspence.
Interesting and fast paced.
It's about Masonry and ancient symbols, plus other stuff (I adore being precise).
It features Robert Langdon's character, by Dan Brown.
Actually it's the first Dan Brown's book that I read..... thumb up.
( Dan Brown, this quite 'unknown' author, needs so much my review to spread his work ;)

I have to look into my eye!

My 4 year old boy, comes out with the most incredible things.
A few minutes ago, while I was at my pc, he was watching Tv and moaning.
I asked: ' may be do you have to pee?'
He said no.
After a while he goes toward the bathroom and I ask: 'do you go to pee?'
And he: 'no, I have to look into my eye' ( in the mirror ) with a big grin.
What do you think he did?

Love of a daughter.

Today my sweet daughter gave me my birthday present, the point is, my birthday is the 12th.
It seems that she cannot wait to give me a gift.

But the thing I appreciate most is what it's written on the card she chose:

I wish you a year of a thousand smiles
I wish you a year of a thousand occasions
I wish you a year of a thousand emotions

It's beautiful and it made me cry ;)

Love of a father.

I was inspired by this
